"Surrogates" Trailer

This looks good. Reminds me of Will Smith's iRobot. I think I'm gonna like it.  :-)

You can visit the official Surrogates movie site here.

Note: (1) Thanks to @AshrafGhori for the heads up!  (2) If the movie doesn't play automatically, try double tap on it to play & single tap to pause.

Gmail Push Email: Set Up Your iPhone or iPod Touch

To set up Google Sync on your iPhone or iPod Touch device, please follow the steps below .

Requirements and Upload

1. Google Sync is only supported on iPhone OS versions 3.0 and above. You can check your current version by going to Settings > General > About > Version. To upgrade, follow the instructions at http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/. Please upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 before setting up Google Sync.

2. Perform a sync with iTunes to ensure that Contacts and Calendars from your iPhone are backed up to your computer.

Getting Started

1. Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.
2. Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Tap Add Account....
4. Select Microsoft Exchange.

Enter Account Info

5. In the Email field, enter your full Google Account email address. If you use an @googlemail.com address, you may see an "Unable to verify certificate" warning when you proceed to the next step.
6. Leave the Domain field blank.
7. Enter your full Google Account email address as the Username.
8. Enter your Google Account password as the Password.
9. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
9a. Choose Accept if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
10. A new Server field will appear. Enter m.google.com.
11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

12. Select the Google services you want to sync.

13. Unless you want to delete all the existing Contacts and Calendars on your phone, select the Keep on my iPhone option when prompted. This will also allow you to keep syncing with your computer via iTunes.

If you want to sync only the My Contacts group, you must choose to Delete Existing Contacts during the Google Sync install when prompted. If you choose to keep existing contacts, it will sync the contents of the "All Contacts" group instead.

You've set up Google Sync for your iPhone. Synchronization will begin automatically if you have Push enabled on your phone. You can also open the Mail, Calendar or Contacts app and wait a few seconds to start a sync.

Next learn how to choose which calendars to sync, if you'd like to enable multiple calendars.

Tip: If your business, school, or organization uses Google Apps, your administrator will first need to enable Google Sync before you can take advantage of this feature.

 I've just set it up on my iPhone 3G & everything seems to be working fine. Sent an email to myself & the email was pushed instantaneously to my iPhone. So far, so good. More tests coming up. :-)

Update: As some in the blogosphere have noted, Google Sync need to use the one & only Microsoft Exchange "slot" on your iPhone/iPod touch. So if you're already using it on your iPhone/iPod touch (e.g. for your company email account), you're out of luck.

Alright NetNewsWire, you win.

I finally caved. Just updated my outdated version of NewNewsWire to the latest NNW/Google Reader combo version. God knows I've put it off long enough.

I've read both good and not-so-good things about it, so I really don't know what to expect. I really like using NNW as my default RSS reader, so maybe I'm just afraid I'll end up hating the new one and have to go through the trouble of finding another RSS reader.

Any feedback from those of you who have been using this latest version is very much welcomed. Or if you think there's a better RSS reader that I don't know about. Or if you think RSS readers are so last year that I shouldn't even be using it. Yes, you're welcome too.

ReTweet after me.

Twitter Bird

Hi. My name is <insert name here>, and I am a Twitterholic.

You really can't say when it happened. Or even how it happened.

"Just give it a try; you'll definitely like it.", a friend said. "And if you don't, you can always stop anytime you want.", said another. "Maybe just one try. There's a cute bird too.", you convinced myself.

And that was it. You were hooked. You end up in your own world for long periods throughout the day and night. Nobody understood what was happening to you. How could they, when you couldn't understand it yourself.

Oh sure, those things come in different forms and with different names - Tweetie, Tweetdeck, Twitterrific, Nambu - but they're all the same. All exactly the same. They hook you, reel you in, and they keep you coming back. You start to talk differently too: rt, dm, follow, trend, followfriday. The code words start piling up the more you use it.

And for once in your life, you're part of the popular crowd. The 'in' crowd. How could you have possibly resisted that?

:-)

A new beginning. Again.

QRcode

My Twitter bio says:

"a.k.a Syed Md. Faisal Al-Yahya. Son, Brother, Husband, Father and  user since 1984."

In a nutshell, that's all there is mostly. Not in any way unique of course, but for years I've felt that description to be a sufficient "introduction". Maybe it's time for a little more. Or maybe not. We'll see.

My wife sometimes uses the cliche "man of few words" to describe me. Fitting probably. But I think I'd prefer "man of adventure", or maybe "international man of mystery".  :-)
